What is Artemis?
NASA plans to send the first woman and next man to the Moon by 2024! Collaborating with commercial and international partners, NASA hopes to establish sustainable missions by 2028. Then, on to Mars!
The Artemis Program will:
- Demonstrate new technologies, capabilities and business approaches needed for future exploration
- Establish American leadership and strategic presence on the Moon
- Broaden our commercial and international partnerships
- Inspire a new generation and encourage careers in STEM
NASA’s new rocket, the Space Launch System (SLS) will send astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft a quarter million miles from Earth to lunar orbit. Astronauts will dock Orion at the Gateway where they will live and work around the Moon. Read all about it here.
