Opening Doors to STEM: LCSA’s 2026 Grant Cycle Is Here

The Lancaster County STEM Alliance’s 2026 Grant Cycle officially opens this month, and with it comes a new year of chances to expand access, remove barriers, and support programs that help students build the skills they need for a changing world. Whether you’re a seasoned grant writer or exploring funding for the first time, January is the perfect time to learn how our grants work, explore funding priorities, and determine whether your project is a fit.

In this post, we’ll break down everything you need to know about the 2026 cycle—including who should apply, what we fund, and how our investments support future workforce needs and student success.

Why Our Grants Matter More Than Ever

STEM education is no longer just about preparing students for science and engineering careers;it’s about equipping them with essential skills for nearly every field. From healthcare and manufacturing to business, logistics, agriculture, and IT, employers increasingly need workers who can:

  • analyze and interpret data
  • solve problems using real-world context
  • collaborate and communicate across teams
  • adapt to new tools and technologies

Our grants help schools, businesses, and community partners create learning experiences that build these core skills. When students participate in hands-on STEM, they gain the confidence and curiosity required for success in college, career, and civic life.

What’s New for the 2026 Grant Cycle

The 2026 cycle continues our commitment to equitable access and impactful investment. While the priorities remain consistent, we are sharpening our focus on programs that demonstrate:

  • alignment to local workforce needs
  • clear plans for student participation and engagement
  • evidence of sustainability beyond start-up funding
  • partnerships that leverage resources and expertise

This ensures that projects supported by LCSA reach more students, strengthen outcomes, and contribute to long-term systemic change, not just one-year activities.

Funding Priorities: Where We Focus

For 2026, the Lancaster County STEM Alliance will continue funding programs that advance STEM learning in four key areas:

Out-of-School STEM Learning

Programs that expand learning beyond the classroom (after school, weekends, or over the summer) and help students explore careers and build confidence through hands-on experiences.

STEM Career Exploration

We support initiatives that expose students to real careers through industry partnerships, workplace tours, externships, mentoring, and project-based connections.

In-School K–12 Project-Based Learning

PBL remains a cornerstone of our investment strategy, helping educators bring relevance, inquiry, and real-world challenges into the classroom.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

Programs that reduce barriers and make STEM more inclusive are essential—especially for students who have historically lacked access or representation.

These priority areas reflect what our region needs most: a stronger talent pipeline, more equitable opportunity, and a vibrant community of learners.
